The walk to the rim of canyon was much, much longer than it appeared to be. In fact, as you were trekking along the walkway, the “end point” edge of the canyon seemed to be stretching out further and farther. While you figured it just might be an optical illusion, there was no denying that you had to walk and walk to get to the rim of the canyon where you now stood ... hip joints aching from what seemed to be a very, very, VERY long walk in the
... or maybe all of this was some sort of optical illusion ... no time to fret about that now ...
The walkway to the rim of the canyon was lined with stone markers that probably were way-stones used for some purpose that is now long forgotten. You do notice that each of the stone markers are reddish in color. Could that have been blood or just the color of the stone. For now, you aren’t going to worry about that, because you are intrigued by what is left of what could easily have been used as a sacrificial alter or some sort ... as you examine this carved stone object that has been obviously destructed by an incredible force ... after all, what could possibly have reduced to mostly rubble what easily covered six meters by who knows how high. You also notice that this stone is the same blood color as the stone markers along the walkway! Just then you slip in the loose gravel surrounding the alter. You watch the tiny rocks slip over the edge of the canyon rim ... and, as you lean ever so slightly AND CAREFULLY over the edge of the canyon rim, your mouth drops open as you see just how are down it is to the raging river below. Also, you notice just a little ways down, from the top of the rim where you stand, an opening that looks to be a constructed cave entrance.
You look over to the Amphitheater and think about heading that way.
Far back along the LONG walkway to this alter you can see the open area where a Tower of Babel structure once stood.
You are most intrigued by the circular, open area where a thin red line keeps re-appearing and then disappearing on a flickering kind of basis.
You are still quite intrigued by this stone alter object and think about walking around the front side of it which leaves just enough room along the rim of the canyon wall ... it looks like there are some gold coins towards the center area of the alter.
Time to decide ...
